Moorends Road and Jonny Moor Long Lane

The road that links Jonny Moor Long Lane and Moorends Road has become a known hotspot for road traffic collisions, with speed consistently cited as a contributing factor.

Jonny Moor Long Lane has a speed limit of 60mph but many drivers ignore this and drive at excessive speeds, often misjudging the curves in the road and forgetting that this is a regular route for farm traffic.

Moorends Road has a speed limit of 40mph, Despite this speed limit, many drivers approach the level crossing at excessive speeds, often misjudging the curve or failing to react in time to oncoming traffic.

Recent reports from members of the public have prompted renewed calls for further speeding operations to be undertaken.

Last week, 42 vehicles were checked with 2 drivers spoken to and advised in relation to their manner of driving.

These operations will continue to take place including early morning and into the evening.
